What clubs are best for me?

Advanced

Beginner:

The beginning golfer should be looking for clubs that are the most forgiving when the ball is struck off-center. Perimeter-weighted clubs place the most weight of the club around the edges, which prevents the clubhead from turning with a poorly hit shot. The Tour Model Hummer and Lincoln III irons are some of the most popular perimeter-weighted irons available today. Also, the Precision Series IV has an enlarged sweet spot to help compensate for off-center shots.

If you would like something that makes it very easy to get the ball in the air, you should look for irons that have more sole weighting like the Copper Sole Bi-Metal, Impex Plus Soft Steel, 566 SP Peripheral Balanced, K-Tour FastBack, 948e or 948c irons. Sole weighting lowers the center of gravity by putting the weight under the ball, helping to get it in the air quicker.

Titanium is stronger, denser and lighter than steel, thus the clubhead can be made larger with the same amount of material. A larger head also means the size of the sweet spot will be larger. Since off-center shots will make you lose distance, a larger sweet spot will be the most forgiving. Integra Titanium Woods have an extremely large face and its light weight promotes clubhead speed. The Integra Titanium Slice Killer features an offset design to prevent your shots spinning left-to-right and giving a straighter ball flight.

For the Driver, the larger the head the more forgiving it will be. The Integra 450cc, Integra 400cc, HyperSonic 360cc, Integra IV 320cc are all going to have the largest face, producing the largest sweet spot. This is very important, since a beginner doesn't always hit the ball right in the middle of the clubface. (Studies have shown you lose 10 yards for every 1/8" of an inch you miss the sweet spot!!!)

For fairway woods, the lower profile woods make it easier to get the ball airborne, as the weight is mostly below the center of the ball. The Super Concord is an extremely forgiving low profile wood. The Catapult and Royal Saber have added brass weights to the sole of the club to make them even more forgiving. The 948c woods are shaped with a special keel sole to be extremely forgiving from the fairway or rough.

In addition, the Royal Saber has scorelines which face upwards on the heel and toe. This patented design reduces the sidespin on off-center hits, allowing the ball to fly farther and straighter.

We have several heads which feature maraging steel. Maraging is a process that makes steel 20% harder than pure titanium. This is going to allow the ball to come off the clubface harder and allow greater distance.

Graphite shafts and TrueTemper Sensicore shafts are the absolute most forgiving shafts for poorly hit shots. They absorb the vibration like a shock absorber, allowing for a much better feeling shot. For more information on shafts, click this link for What shafts are best for me?

Intermediate:

The intermediate golfer should be looking for a club that maximizes both distance and control. The most appropriate irons would be the Impex Plus Soft Steel, Precision Series IV, Tour Model Hummer, 948c, 948e and 566 SP Peripheral Balanced. The more perimeter-weighting you have, the more forgiving the club, but the more weight directly behind the ball gives you more distance. These clubheads all seek to optimize the balance between distance and control.

The HVG, Integra IV 320cc, HyperSonic 360cc and 320cc titanium heads are excellent distance clubs. They are very light, allowing you to generate more clubhead speed to get more distance, yet still more controllable than the largest oversize titanium heads. The Super Concord, Catapult and K-Tour FastBack are superb clubs for generating powerful shots without losing control. The K-Tour FastBack features offset to reduce shots going left-to-right.

For intermediate golfers, any of our shafts would work well. It’s important that you pick out the properties of a shaft that will help your game the most. The lightweight shafts have a lower flexpoint, which help you get the ball in the air quicker. The standard weight shafts have a higher flexpoint, which allows for better control. Graphite shafts and the True Temper Sensicore shaft have a bit softer feel. Click here for What shafts are best for me?

Advanced:

Advanced Golfers need the weight of the clubhead where it is needed most… right behind the ball. The Snake Eyes, Impex Plus Soft Steel and Alpha-Z irons are the best-suited clubheads for the advanced golfer. The weight is directly behind the ball, meaning a shot struck in the center of the club will explode off the club face.

The Integra IV 320cc and HVG heads are a very manageable size, yet large enough that you can really go after it. (The majority of finalists were using Integra heads in the 2001 Remax Long Drive Competition!).

The KZG head also is gaining popularity quickly on the PGA Tour! This head is specially made at a foundry in Japan, and is the first time in history a maraging steel head has been able to be made as large as 300cc and weigh under 200 grams!

The KZG Catapult and Royal Saber feature maraging metal faces. This is 20% harder than pure titanium, which allows you to increase distance.

The TrueTemper Dynamic Gold Steel, Grafalloy ProLite, UST ProForce 65 and UST ProForce 75 Graphite shafts have high flexpoints for maximum control. These shafts are the exact same shafts on the PGA and Senior PGA Tours. The Grafalloy ProLite is the #1 Ultralight shaft on all tours. At only 58 grams, it is much easier to control and the light weight will really help to increase clubhead speed. The UST ProForce 55 is also an excellent choice for the better player with slightly lower swing speed. This is a lighter shaft than the 65 or 75, with a slightly lower flexpoint for more forgiveness.
